Course venue
The workshop venue is The Old School Hall on the corner of Main Street and Old Road in Bolton Percy, York. Please see the image and map above.
NB// If you look this up on Google it will take you to the wrong place as it lists: The Old School, School Lane, Askham Bryan, York YO23 7AD so do not follow this!
The best way to find the venue is either to navigate to All Saints’ Church YO23 7AQ which is at the other end of Main Street (see map above) or use https://what3words.com/ and type in tripling.sympathy.hopefully
Free parking is available in the car park.
Public transport
Bolton Percy is a very small rural village so is really only accessible by car. The Number 21 bus leaves York Piccadilly at 0905 and arrives in the village at 0953 on Fridays and Saturdays leaving Bolton Percy at 1558 to arrive in York at 1700. The bus does not run on Sundays however.
Timetable of the day
The course starts at 9.30am each day and finishes at 4pm with 45 min for lunch and a couple of shorter coffee breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Materials
You will be working with water-based clay on a wooden armature which will be supplied. While most of the work will be from observation, some key measurements will also be taken.
Some basic tools will be provided but it would be helpful if you have the following:-
-
Wooden and/or metal modelling tools
-
Metal ruler and/or tape measure
-
Apron or old clothing
-
Camera for documenting your progress
Lunch and Refreshments
Free tea, coffee, biscuits and cake will be available throughout the course but please bring your own lunch.
Please note that there are no shops or food outlets in the village except for Doylys Tea Room which does not open all year round so we recommend you bring food with you.
